The Arques School of Traditional Boatbuilding is located in Sausalito, California, a 15-minute drive across the Golden Gate bridge from San Francisco. Sausalito is a charming little town, and was once a center for commercial fishing and shipbuilding.

Directions from San Francisco to the School at 600 Gate Five Rd., Sausalito, CA 94965:
- Follow route 101 north, across the Golden Gate Bridge, and another 4 miles
- Take the exit for SAUSALITO/MARIN CITY
- TURN RIGHT onto BRIDGEWAY
- After 1/2 mile, turn LEFT onto HARBOR DR.
- Take the SECOND TURN ON THE RIGHT (past the main post office) puts you on Road 3. Park on this road.
- To the left you will see a large white building clearly marked as the Spaulding Boatworks. The Arques School is located in that building. Walk along the building towards the bay, turn in to your right. A sign just above eye-level is marked “Arques School of Traditional Boatbuilding”
Directions from the north:
- Take 101 south and exit at SAUSALITO/MARIN CITY.
- TURN LEFT, go under the throughway
- TURN RIGHT at the lights onto BRIDGEWAY.
- After 1/2 mile, turn LEFT onto HARBOR DR.
